Horus

IoT connectivity

Communication paths that connect field devices to Horus Cloud according to each device's capabilities.

IoT connectivity

Field devices, cloud operation

Horus runs in the cloud, while most IoT devices are deployed in the field. Communication between devices and Horus Cloud adapts to each device's technical capabilities, available connectivity, and site conditions.

Connection methods

  • IP: the device connects directly to Horus Cloud to publish or retrieve information.
  • Local: the device uses field communication and needs a gateway between the equipment and the cloud.
  • SMS: some equipment reports events or measurements through cellular text messages.
  • LoRa: autonomous devices send small data packets to a radio receiver, with ranges that can reach up to 15 km depending on geography.

Local protocols

When a device requires local communication, the gateway translates field protocols into a channel compatible with Horus. Supported scenarios include:

  • RS485
  • 1Wire
  • 4-20 mA as an industrial electrical signal

Cameras as IoT devices

Cameras are a special kind of sensor. Based on video streams, Horus can translate images into information and process it like device data: detections, states, events, or visual evidence associated with an operational situation.
